Charges of assault on a female and interfering with emergency communication against former NHL defenseman Aaron Ward from an alleged October incident were dismissed last Friday.

According to a story by TSN, where Ward had worked before the incident, the Wake County (North Carolina) District Attorney’s office concluded that, “After review of this case and discussions with the victim, it appears that further prosecution is not warranted.”

Ward released a statement via Twitter.

WRAL spoke to police around the time of Ward’s arrest.

According to police, Ward's wife called 911 after the two had a confrontation around 1 p.m. Ward also faces a charge of interfering with emergency communication. According to the warrant for his arrest, he took away his wife's phone.

Since the charges, Ward has not appeared on TSN. The story from TSN about Ward listed him as “former TSN Hockey analyst.”

Puck Daddy has reached out to TSN via email for comment on Ward's official status with the network.

Ward played 839 games in an NHL career that spanned from 1993-94 through 2009-10. He won a Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2005-06. In 2011 he became a studio analyst for TSN.
